First impresions of Portugal are mixed. It seems like a very compact place.I had a good friend in High School his dad was portugese. I keep seeing the guy everywhere. His name was ED he fixed cars and chain smoked alot.He still lives in Jersey and fixes cars. I was not ready for sun and heat. That is what hit me first. Of course coming from Germany at first you are a little freaked by dirt,homeless and grime but for me it usually goes away fast. I guess the most important thing of all is it seems so CHEAP. I just got in from dinner where i had 2 Vegeterian meals , Apetizer, Wine , bread, Salad. 27 Euro. I could not get this food regardless this much for this price in France or Germany.Oh another one when I see guys on the streets they are either mad in love or bitching about something. I see young guys and they are holding hands with their girls or kissing or huggin. then I see a group of old dudes and it seems they are arguing about everything under the sun for no other reason but to argue.I took a real nice train ride for 15 euro that had movies and the headphones were free.
