THE END OF ....OcToBeR..
I wish I had time or money to go to this.
I have been to Istanbul once and it was a pretty dope city. I went there my first year living in Europe and took a cheap package tour. It is the kind of place I would defiantly live. I got in late I remember and was sent to my hotel I wandered around the neighborhood a little that night and the next day woke early and got on a tram which I did not pay for cause I did not see turnstyles or any ticket checkers. One of the dopest things about Istanbul was it was a big gritty dirty city with great architecture and several different types of neighborhoods. It rained a lot when I was there which got a bit annoying at the end. I spent one entire day in a high class bath house and soaked and steamed all day. Then I figured out the word in Turkish and went to the run down local ones also. The last one I went to before I left was real spooky with a old school vaulted roof and cobwebs. I left my watch there and have not bought a new one since.
It seems there are a lot of bienialle around. I blogged about the Venice which seems to be to be the superbowl of bienialles . I forgot to mention I have been to the 1 st ever Kwanju Bieniiale.and iddnt know it is still going strong.
I remember I took a train to that also and I did not get a seat I gave it up to a friend of mine who had a bad back. (look on his site for pics of me and his awesome writing) Me and my girlfriend at the time spread newspapers out between cars and sat on the floor. It was a decent bienialle.
What I am really curios about is this show. I have only seen Kara Walkers work at SMH
And it was a while ago. I really like her stuff and wish I could go to this show if anyone does please email me and give me a full report.
I read a good article about her in the New Yorker and think she is a good American female artist.
